Hollywood's Most Glamorous night!

Did everyone catch the Oscars last night?

My brother has yet to watch one so he joined me yesterday since he wanted to see the performances and watch Seth Macfarlane host. It seems the reviews are mixed on how he performed but I enjoyed it overall. I love the theme they had this year: a celebration of music in movies. He definitely had a few jokes where it really wasn't funny but he had a few where I laughed out loud.

"The Von Trapp Family Singers!..." *points at exit* *spotlight on door*
"...The family Von Trapp..." *points at exit* *spotlight on door*
- Soldier in uniform runs in and yells, "THEY'RE GONE!" only to have Seth stare wide-eyed and in shock at the TV.

So lame but it made me laugh....Then the amazing Christopher Plummer took the stage to announce the winner for Best Supporting Actress -- YAY ANNE HATHAWAY :)

While we watched the red carpet segment, I made some chocolate fondue as a snack. It was a lovely thing to munch on when we watched the show.

For the chocolate fondue, I heated up 1/2 cup of skim milk with 2 Tbsp Heavy Cream in the microwave. I added equal amounts of semi-sweet chocolate chips to the hot cream and whisked until fully incorporated.

I toasted the marshmallows in the toaster oven before serving it. It's better slightly charred, warm and soft. Strawberries are so wonderful this time of year!

Speaking of strawberries... The Strawberry Festival is this week and I can't wait to go for the first time with the boys. I've been to the Florida State Fair in Tampa but I have yet to head to the Plant City Strawberry Festival.

Last week's total miles ran equaled 20 miles (4.8, 4.8, 4.8, 5.6). I also managed some yoga and pilates during the week.

One thing I definitely had a hard time with was over-snacking and curbing my sweet tooth. I'm going to try to do better this week! I have to remind myself that exercise cannot undo a bad diet.

I allow myself to indulge moderately but even I know when it's no longer moderate and heading toward overeating.

On that note, I read a really interesting article yesterday from the New York Times that's pretty lengthly but it's about "The Extraordinary Science of Junk Food." It was definitely extremely interesting to read about how products are specifically made for us to have a hard time not craving it or stopping at one.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Let's wrap up February on a high note!

A few of my favorite Oscar looks last night...

Jessica Chastain in Armani Prive
(The bead work was amazing!)

Adele in Burberry during her performance of "Skyfall"

Stacy Keibler in Naeem Khan

There were so many dresses I really loved that it was hard to pick a few. I thought Jane Fonda looked fabulous in her bright yellow dress! Kerry Washington's dress was extremely beautiful yet elegant.

Did you have a favorite look?

I know some people don't like watching the Oscars (like my boyfriend) and I have to admit I switch the channel during the speeches but everything else is wonderful!

The whole concept of not being able to outrun a bad diet is one I should think about more. It's so true. I definitely sometimes plan extra miles when I know I'm going to be indulging a lot, and I rarely worry about eating a few cookies or something any given day, knowing that I spend a lot of time working out (and I'm not trying to lose weight, well, maybe some, but not a lot, I mostly want to maintain). But at the same time, while I know all those miles need extra food, I need to remember that most of that extra food should be nutritious -- something like a bigger bowl of greek yogurt with fruit for dessert or something. You're right, it's all about moderation. I was starting to feel like I was eating way more sweets than was appropriate, so I'm trying to stay off them now until Easter. And then that will be a day of no moderation, but just a day!

I love splashy award shows like this. I thought Jessica Chastain looked beautiful, and I thought Hallie Berry's outfit wasn't flattering. :) Cheers to the Oscars for another year. Have a great Tuesday Grace.
