I know (I know...) my northern friends and readers are like "suck it up....that's WARM. You want to know what COLD IS?!"
I mean, I used to be one of those braving the snow and sludge going to college classes in central PA. My sister lives in NYC for goodness sake and they just went through a storm last week. I have a sorority sister who lives in Norway right now. She probably considers our weather a heat wave at this point.
I remember attending sorority events in the dead of winter wearing a hoodie and flip-flops.
I'm not so cold resilient anymore. I do find myself a lot more heat resistant. I prefer mild temperatures now and I'm okay with the house being 82 degrees without turning on the A/C.
The colder weather is amazing for running though. I find myself speeding up just in hopes of warming up my hands.
I woke up this morning around 6 am to have breakfast and get ready for my run. I managed 5.6 miles under 52 minutes today. The last 2.8 miles I did under 25 minutes. I definitely go a bit faster when I have a set destination in mind.
ONWARDS!
The weekly miles ran total equals 20.6 miles (4.8 mi - 4.8 mi - 5.4 mi - 5.6 mi). On days I didn't run, I also squeezed in elliptical workouts, Kinect Just Dance 3 "workouts", pilates and yoga. All in all, I'm pleased with my activity of the week.
Eating wise was so-so. I had good days for the most part but I may have over-indulged in sweets a bit this week. I'm hoping to reign in my sweet tooth next week.
Post-run, I showered and got ready to go to brunch with my boyfriend and brother.
We were heading to Wat Mongkolratanaram of Florida, a Thai Buddhist Temple. The temple and its members host a Sunday lunch every week that I've been meaning to try out. I've literally had it bookmarked on Yelp for years. You can read my full Yelp! review here.
Behind the temple, different stalls sell different Thai dishes for an extremely affordable price.
After our Thailand trip this past December, I knew for sure I needed to go ASAP to check out this Tampa gem.
It was slightly chilly so I made sure we bundled up because the temple is right next to the Palm River. There were a lot of picnic tables set outside but there was also indoor seating. Since I was cold, we opted to sit indoors for part of the meal. It was super fun.
Pork Noodle Soup and Beef Noodle Soup
Beef Curry, Chicken Curry and Pork Curry
I gave the boys haircuts this weekend. My boyfriend was long overdue.
After lunch, we walked around the Thai temple to digest.
Afterwards, we headed toward Sanwa Farmer's Market that's not exactly a farmer's market but more of a restaurant whole sale supplier that opened up to the public in recent years. It's another thing I've bookmarked to check out for ages.
Some items were extremely great bargains and I was quick to put it in my basket.
2 Pomeloes for $1
Avocadoes for 49 ¢/each
Tofu for $1.09 each
Pomegranates for $1/each
The meat was mostly in bulk and the seafood was frozen so I bought mostly produce by the end of the trip. It also has rice, spices, dried goods and cans. It's definitely a worthy stop that I plan on hitting up at least once a month.
All in all, it was a fun morning exploring what my city has to offer.
For me, home is where the heart is and Taipei will always have a special place in my heart and I consider it home. It's only the last year or so that I've fully embraced living in Tampa. There are definite perks living here and I'm slowly but surely going to explore every last one of them!
Have you relocated before? How did you find your footing? Did you have a hard time adjusting?

I have relocated maybe fifteen times in the thirty years I have been alive so far, with big plans for the future (new country, maybe new continent). But it all depends on Richard's plans... he is more attached to this place than I am.
By the way, I have been meaning to ask this for a while... how do you find the time for all of this? Right now I am sick at home (and the doctor forbade everything that might stretch or rip the skin on my leg, so not even yoga), and I still have a hard time fitting everything into one day. During the week I get up at six (at the latest) work from nine to six and fall asleep between ten and eleven. With housework, writing and exercise... well, you probably know how it is. ^^
I definitely have days where I am absolutely too busy to get anything longer than 20-30 minutes in. I'm a firm believer that every little bit helps.
It's definitely a balancing act but it's all about priorities and making time for yourself and not feeling guilty. I'm lucky I don't have kids yet. I have such respect for moms.
I'm 100% with you on the temps. Inside at 82 is fine with me. I'd much prefer that to 62 or something.
That restaurant looks cool!
I can't tell you how many times I have relocated. I have lived in 4 different states and moved around in each one of them. Ugh! The house we live in now we have had for 6 years and it is the longest we have stayed in the same residence :D
The Thai market looks like it was fabulous! And what great deals on produce! My regret when we moved to Arizona from Michigan was that we didnt do more touristy things before we moved back 2 years later. So glad you are out exploring!
You are such a rock star with your runs! You need a medal. :) I love the cooler weather and I'm enjoying every minute of it before it gets hot again.
The Tampa weather is pretty much identical to the weather we're having in Cali right now. It's actually raining here right now. I don't think I would be able to brave the cold. At least you were able to do so with snow at some point. I'm sure you can handle the 40s better than me. I always need three layers of clothes for it. LOL.
The temple and market pictures are beautiful. Plus, the soup looks delicious. In this weather, we can definitely use some soup. :)
Thanks so much for leaving a comment on my blog. Try to stay warm. Take care. :)
