Article: Listen to your mother: It will help you relax.
I had a Skype session with my mom this morning where she showed off her latest knitting project.
My mother is a fantastic knitter and sadly, the only thing I know how to knit is a scarf. She told me she hopes that she has grand-daughters one day that she can pass along all her skills, tools and books. I asked her why she can't just teach her current daughters!?
My boyfriend joked, "You have to start young. You're too old now to learn."
Everyone in the family has my mom's knitted sweaters (even my sister's dog is no exception.)
Look at her posing with what grandmama made for her last Christmas.
I remember in college after a particular heartbreak/humiliation. I called home every morning just to hear my mom's voice. A combination of her rambling about her day and Spongebob Squarepants got me through that particular bout of blues.
I didn't even know about the study at the time but reading the article now, I definitely believe in it.
I woke up really early this morning to do two loads of laundry, make breakfast for myself and go out for a run.
The chilly morning air was perfect.
I love looking at the layer of mist coming off of the pond.
I managed a 5.4 mile run in under 50 minutes. I could have gone for a few more miles but I'm going to aim to run again tomorrow morning.
Now...to get on with the rest of Saturday!
Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Your sister's dog is so cute! I definitely believe hearing my mother's voice calms me down when I'm upset. Also, you're never 'too old' to learn something new!! Have a great weekend (and thanks for stopping by my blog :-) )
I am also inept with knitting needles. When I am really in need of something to do, I crochet, but that doesn't happen often. The picture of the dog is really dear, I'm glad that you all have a sense of humor. Have a wonderful weekend. Blessings...Mary
You aren't too old to learn! My mom took that stuff up in her forties, so it's never too late.
I used to crochet when I was very young, but I've forgotten how. I admire people who can make sweaters, but I've never tried. It's kind of intimidating, you know?
I wish I could do some of the sewing crafts that my mom does. My sister seems to be able to crochet fine, but I must not have the gene. Your mother's knitting is beautiful.
Great run on what looks like a beautiful morning. My neck of the woods (Seattle) has..wait for it...rain this morning. Hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Hey lady! Just wanted to say HI! And tell you that you are NOT too old to learn! LOL I'm going to talk some more about the HRM's on my blog this week and my research. :) And one last thing... your sweaty pics are so cute! For sure, you are one of those luckies that gets that awesome 'glow'! :D
What a beautiful quilt! I love that she makes things for the dog. : ) Yes, definitely treasure your mom. I lost mine just about a year ago, and now that she's gone, I realize all the ways that I miss her despite our ups and downs over the years.
The puppy showing of her sweaters is presh!
I agree
The older I get the more I appreciate my parents
I had to move back in with my mother a few years ago due to health problems (anorexia)
I love getting to spend this time with her
I dread the day that they are gone
Take care x
I agree with the study! I call my mom almost every day! Even if we have nothing to talk about and the call only lasts 30 seconds, just to say hi. She is my best friend and love when we have chances to visit and have girl time days.
Nice run!
You are right! I miss my Mum so bloody much!
I started teaching myself how to knit just this past year. And if I can learn it, oyu definitely can. Ask your mother, hunt her down and have her show you. It, too, has a calming effect on the brain. ^^
