Staying active

My brother and I both love hitting up our local public library to borrow books. It's super convenient and I love how I can put a hold on any books throughout the county.

I wipe down the books with disinfecting wipes before we start reading. I only started doing that after reading about the flu epidemic. It's probably overkill but I feel a bit better about it.

Are you currently reading anything?

I can't believe the first month of the year is winding down!

How was everyone's January?

We got back from Taiwan on the 9th and since then, it's been business-as-usual in our household.

I'm happy to report that I have my eating under control and have been exercising consistently after I got over my jet lag.

This week so far I ran 4.8 miles (Tuesday), 4.8 miles (Wednesday) and 4 miles (Friday).

Monday, I danced to Just Dance 3 (Kinect) for about 45 minutes followed by core exercises. This was a family activity since when we get competitive, we get a better workout.

Thursday, I did stretching, yoga and pilates for about an hour. I also did 90 minutes of yard work.

I almost skipped today's run because I woke up with cramps in my stomach. It felt super uncomfortable and I thought something was wrong. Thankfully, some hot tea soothed my tummy so I willed myself to get 4 miles done. It was a steady run done in about 40 minutes but I was glad I didn't skip.

Saturday morning, we have to take my brother to his exam around 7:30 AM. My boyfriend wants to play a round of golf before we pick him up. That'll be my exercise for the day and maybe some stretching.

Sunday morning, I want to get a long run in. I'm going to aim for a minimum of 6.6 miles but see if I can push myself a bit more. This all depends on how I feel, how much sleep I get in and the like.

Post run today!

My hair curler broke on my birthday last week. I was sad but then I remember I had it since my freshman year of college. RIP hair curler! With it, I learned how to curl my hair for the first time.

My hair is not completely straight. It has a slight wave in it. It's easy to style and I love playing with it. I guess that's one of the reasons I haven't been able to pull the trigger to cut it short.

Happy Weekend!

I love our library. But I very rarely go in. I barrow books on my kindle through their kindle program. I LOVE IT.

What a good idea to wipe down the books first! I'm a germaphobe so I am totally with you on taking precautions.
*bows head for a moment of silence for your hair curler*
Beauty appliances breaking or getting lost are the worst. :(

Pssh! I disinfect books and things, too! I put 90% Isopropyl alcohol in a spray bottle and mist stuff like that and let it air dry. Voila! Sanitary! So no, not silly. Not with the flu hitting like its the end of the world!!!

Sorry about your curler. :( Mine is on its last legs and honestly, my hair is right at your length and takes forever to roll, so I bought my first set of hot rollers. I got the wider ones with the heated clips and I like how it gives a soft but bouncy curl like my iron did. I got it at Sally's Beauty Supply. And ironically, it was a birthday gift to myself! Hopefully you can find a new one you love to replace yours. :)
