Knowing when to ask for help

I've had a brief hiatus from blogging since Saturday when something happened Saturday night that literally ruined my entire weekend. It's somewhat resolved today since it was something that couldn't get handled until Monday. I'm still slightly shell shocked after the whole ordeal but I'm hoping our family can return to normalcy as soon as possible.

Looking back, it was probably a good thing that "shit hit the fan" on Saturday giving me time to compose myself and figure out what to do.

I'm the type who can stay relatively calm and composed during stressful times only to unravel immediately once it's over.

How my boyfriend stays so calm and composed...I'll never know. I do know that's one of the reasons I gravitated to him in college as a friend.

One of the most heart-warming moments from this chaos was when someone asked my brother, "Who are you closest to?"

He responded, "My mom and Jason."

It's hard to believe that they only officially met 1.5 years ago.

I've been either crying, teary-eyed or pretending to be stoic the last few days. I finally managed to laugh about something this afternoon when I realized there was light at the end of the tunnel.

I'm grateful for being surrounded by people I can reach out to for help. It's only when there's hardships that you truly appreciate what you have.

I hope you guys all have a wonderful weekend.

One of the things I learned now is that I am no longer a stress eater apparently. If anything, my appetite disappeared this weekend but I still had to prepare food for the family so I did eat a bit.

This week is my birthday week. Let's hope everything lightens up from here on out.

I hope that today and the rest of your week is much, much better. I know that feeling, though...and it's just awful. BUT as you said, sometimes the "shit hitting the fan" is sort of the release of whatever tension or trouble was building up, so in that way it can be a positive thing sometimes. Take care of yourself today, Grace!

Grace, I am just like you and my husband, of almost 22 years, just like your bf when it comes to crisis situations. The fact that we are still happily married after all these years, says we are made to be together. It's a nice balance. Hope things all work out well.

Hey lady. Not sure what all is going on, but I hope that they get better. Sometimes the poo just can't help hitting the fan once the pile gets so high. Hopefully, now that the pile has been flattened out some, it will stay small and not build up. And for your sake, I hope you have a great birthday week! Mine is in another couple of weeks. I never realized how close our b-days were! ((hugs)) To you!
