Early to bed..early to rise..

...makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.

Apparently this phrase was found in the 18th century in Benjamin Franklin's Poor Richard's Almanac. They believe it could have been coined by Franklin himself but who knows.... (Thanks Google!)

For the last two days, I've been waking up at 5 am in the morning without an alarm clock. You would think it means that I haven't been getting a good night's rest. On the contrary, I've been dozing off in bed around 9 pm so I consider that an extremely great night's sleep.

I love peaceful mornings when it's absolutely silent. I'm sure my boyfriend doesn't appreciate being woken up but thankfully, I've learned to make peace with the fact that he's not a morning person.

He'll beg to differ of course since he wakes up naturally between 7-8 am which he argues, "Is pretty early in his book."

Right after I publish this post, I have every intention of heading out for a morning run before the family actually wakes up. We're catching the early showing of Les Miserables at 10:10 am. I know, where have we been!?

Well...we've been in Taiwan and they don't release the movie until mid February. Don't ask me why. Some movies release simultaneously. Some earlier than others. In this case, wayyyy later than the US release date.

Yesterday, we finally tried out a restaurant that has been on my to-go list for quite a while. I think I bookmarked the restaurant on Yelp! the first year we moved to Florida in 2009

It was fun to have a belated birthday brunch with my family at Datz Deli. I was a little too dressed up for brunch but I wanted a reason to wear my blazer that I got last year that I've never worn before.

We arrived a little before 9 am so we beat the morning crowd like I had intended. I detest waits and I read beforehand on Yelp! that parking could be an issue. Thankfully, there were plenty of spaces in their private lot behind the restaurant.

The portion sizes were huge so we couldn't finish it but every bite was delicious! The dishes were not spicy so we had to ask for hot sauce. My plate was perfect after we spiced it up a bit.

I love how their weekend menu is formatted like a newspaper!

My boyfriend's Migas!
"traditional Mexican hangover food. corn tortillas scrambled with eggs, chilies, monterey jack cheese and New Mexico red chili sauce, topped with pico de gallo, avocado and sour cream"

My brother's Chicken N' Waffle Benedict
"boneless fried chicken, belgian waffle, poached eggs, tasso hollandaise"
My Eggs Barbacoa
"two eggs, pulled pork, corn tortillas, cilantro, onion, and New Mexico red chili sauce with southwest rice and beans"
My 100th review on Yelp! happens to be at Datz. I've been trying to find something I really wanted to review for my 100th review because I consider it a small milestone :).

You can read the review here. I went through my reviews and I think 7 of them have ROTD (review of the day) which I consider extremely flattering since it's featured on the front page of Tampa Bay's Yelp page. I hope to continue writing quality, thorough and honest reviews for the new year.

Do you Yelp!? I only wish it was in Taipei.

Hope you all enjoy your weekend. I have to get dressed and run out if I'm going to make it in time to shower and get dressed for the movies!
